The Pressure of Looking — Studies in Stillness
is a summer-long solo exhibition by Ed Majkowski, open to the public on the second Friday of June, July, and August from 11am to 8:30pm at his Kennebunk studio. Appointments are encouraged.
The show brings together a new body of plein-air landscape paintings alongside the studies and process artifacts that made them. Built from mosaics of smaller field studies sculpted into larger finished works, the paintings are less about depicting a place than about the act of looking slowly — and what that costs in a world that mostly rewards looking fast.
The work is for anyone who has rebuilt themselves from the ground up and recognizes that finding stillness, in this moment, is not simple. It is honest, and quietly hopeful, work.
